Bø filmsalong | HIND RAJAB - STEMMEN FRA GAZA

A frightening true story - and perhaps this year's most important film.

HIND RAJAB – THE VOICE FROM GAZA is about a six-year-old girl who lost her life in Gaza. The emergency services were powerless just eight minutes away. On January 9, 2024, the Red Crescent in Palestine received an emergency call. A little girl is trapped in a car that is being shot at. While the volunteers at the Red Crescent maintain the call, they do everything they can to get an ambulance sent that can reach her in time. Her name was Hind Rajab, and the starting point for the film is the actual audio recording of Hind calling the emergency center. Director Kaouther Ben Hania has recreated Hind's final hours by using the actual recordings of the phone call together with dramatic reconstructions of the scenes that unfolded at the Red Crescent emergency center. The result is a nerve-wracking and heartbreaking film that both gives us insight into the hopeless situation of Palestinian children and the helplessness of everyone who wants to help but cannot.

The film is being described as one of this year's most important films, was Oscar-nominated, and won the Silver Lion in Venice.

The guest in the theater after the film is Maisa Aljbour. She now lives in Lunde and works as a nurse, but she is from Gaza and has her family there. She will comment on the film and the situation in Gaza based on her own experiences, and there will be an opportunity for conversation with the audience.
The co-organizer is the Palestine Committee in Telemark, and there will be an opportunity to donate to NORWAC's aid work in Gaza.
Light refreshments are included in the ticket.
100 NOK for students!
